home safe

“They say home is your sanctuary. Without that, it’s difficult.”
Program Graduate Calvin Simmons

Providing sanctuary to 153 Jacksonville families since 2008.

Housing is the most fundamental human need

If you’re not sure where you’ll sleep tonight, then every other need becomes secondary. It’s nearly impossible to get to work, prioritize your children’s education, or to keep your family safe.

That’s why Presbyterian Social Ministries is a housing-first program, partially funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). We share a focus on getting families into safe, permanent housing, as the foundational step in regaining control of their lives.

Once a family has a place to stay, we offer case management support, helping participants to find work, receive benefits, enroll in schooling, and, if appropriate, take part in rehabilitation.
